                                When I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in 2006, I was a 26-year old event planner living in NYC with no health insurance and no savings. Until Medicaid finally came in and began footing the bill, I was paying full price for all 10 of my prescription medications. The day I moved to Charlotte, I quickly realized that I wouldn't be eligible for Medicaid in North Carolina. Once again, I'm that person with a pre-existing condition who falls right into the middle of the healthcare system, almost through the cracks. I'm paying full price for all of my medical needs, including medications.
